Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to faring well overall, this nursing home received nearly flawless government inspections. Consequently, it earned one of our highest scores in that category with an A+. Inspection grades are tied to several items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that score well in this category have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. While this place had some deficiencies on its report, none were serious based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Among its many elite scores, this nursing home was awarded a top-shelf short-term care score. In fact, it received a score of A- in this category. In computing our short-term care grades, we look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The goal is to devise a scale for comparing the rehabilitation services of different facilities. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients that ultimately were able to return home from this facility. We found that 5.3 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

This facility is also strong in the area of long-term care, where it received a score of B+. It outpaced most nursing homes in this area. Nursing homes that do well in long-term care typically are well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to residents. After looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination record. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital.
