Long-term Care Quality
In addition to being a first rate nursing home overall, this facility also excelled in our long-term care category, where it earned a grade of A+. Few facilities performed better in this area. Facilities that excel in this category typically provide residents with more supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents. Vaccines are vital to keeping patients out of the hospital. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
Facility Inspections
The next category we looked at was inspections, where this facility also received an A+ grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical category. Our inspection ratings are based on many items found on the a nursing home's inspections. Nursing homes that receive favorable grades in this category tend to have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. It doesn't look like we were able to find information on deficiency's for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality
To complement its strong performance in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. Nursing grades are tied to quantity of nursing care available. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the country in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as employing a system of turning residents even once per day.
Short-term Care Quality
Switching gears to the last area, this nursing home was given an extremely favorable short-term care grade. We awarded it an A in that category, giving this facility straight A's. Our short-term care ratings are thought to be more critical for folks requiring rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation usually mandates more highly-skilled nursing. This means not only nursing, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last item we considered in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
