Facility Inspections
C
Historical
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of C. These inspection ratings take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This facility was assessed 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to find that none were in categories G through L. This indicates this facility dodged the more serious categories of deficiencies. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
Nurse Quality
C
Historical
One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing grade. This proved to be its second best category grade. In that area, we gave this facility a grade of C. Our nursing rating includes quite a few subcategories, many of which are associated with levels of nurse staffing. With 4.1 hours of nursing care per patient per day, this place surpassed the national average. We also look at the skill levels of nurses and add more weight to hours worked by skilled nurses. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed admirably in this subcategory.

Short-term Care Quality
D
Historical
Sadly, this facility's third best score is short-term care. As it turns out, with a D in this category, it still fared somewhat badly. Our short-term care ratings are presumably more meaningful for people requiring a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally mandates more highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes not merely nursing, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other types of therapy. With its grade in this category, we were not stunned to discover that this place was well below average in terms of the number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours offered to its patients based on the measures we looked at. Frankly, this was what we expected here. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents that were able to return home from this facility. This facility didn't fare well here either. We found that just 45.2 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
Long-term Care Quality
D
Historical
The next area we assessed was long-term care, which is a weak link for this nursing home. We gave this facility a grade of just D in long-term care. Facilities that do not fare well in this category typically aren't as well-staffed and are lagging in a few of the areas of routine medical care we looked at. On top of looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 91.66667 percent of its patients. This is slightly below what we anticipated but still a reasonably acceptable figure. Lastly, we looked at its number of hospitalizations. With 1.96 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home did not fare as well as the average nursing home.
