Short-term Care Quality
Even though we were not high on this nursing home overall, we awarded it a grade of B for our short-term care grade. In computing our short-term care scores, we scrutinize a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other types of therapists. This score is frequently a meaningful assessment of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 4.3 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
Facility Inspections
We also awarded this nursing home a grade of B- for our inspections rating. This score is a more impressive than the facility's overall grade. We would argue that one of the most critical factors in evaluating an inspection report is deficiencies. We especially focus on the severity of the deficiencies. This facility received 8 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered severe. This tells you that the government inspectors did not deem any of these deficiencies to cause an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.

Nurse Quality
This nursing home actually received a decent grade in the area of nursing as well. We awarded it a grade of B- for that category, which is not a bad score. Nursing grades are largely based on a nursing home's nurse staffing. This facility averages 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day, which is a very low figure. Lastly, despite not having the highest total nursing hours per resident, this place performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is typically an indicator that a nursing home has sufficient quality controls in place.
Long-term Care Quality
Turning to the last category, this facility didn't perform well in this category either. Due to a very poor grade of F in long-term care, this is really as terrible as it gets. For prospective residents in need of a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care grades are a key measure. Once we finished looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination records. We were pleased to learn that this nursing home vaccinates 100 percent of its patients for pneumonia. To our surprise, this facility also keeps its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
