Registered Staff Hours
Although we did not rate this nursing home highly overall, we want to draw your attention to its nearly flawless inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A in this category. Perhaps the most critical factor we consider in calculating our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. It is generally in your best interest to avoid nursing homes that had a long list of severe deficiencies. While this nursing home had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. A few minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
We gave this facility just a D for our short-term care score and that actually turned out to be its second most favorable score. In forming our short-term care ratings, we assess the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The goal is to create a scale for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various facilities. Given its grade in this category, we weren't surprised to discover that this place is well below average in terms of the number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the figures we looked at. Honestly, this was what we expected to find. Finally, we looked at the number of patients who returned home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.7 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.

Long-term Care Quality
The third area we analyzed is long-term care, where this facility received an F. When facilities receive a score in this range in this category it typically means the facility did not perform well in our measures relating to resident care. On top of assessing the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 91.89189 percent of its residents. This is a few points below what we were hoping for but still a reasonably acceptable percentage. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This was its best feature in this category.
The next category we looked at is nursing, in which this nursing home received a poor grade in this area also. Sadly, it received an abysmal F in this area, which is obviously somewhat alarming. There are a number of criteria within this area. Many of these subcategories reflect the quantity and quality of nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. This place fared well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
