Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

This nursing home's overall score was propped up by the fact that it has received favorable health inspections in recent years. We gave them one of our better scores in that category, with a B+. This is a notably better score than the facility's overall grade. Our inspection ratings account for a host of factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with better scores in this category usually have few of these severe deficiencies. Fortunately, although this place had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means that the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple of minor deficiencies shouldn't lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This nursing home also was awarded a positive score in our short-term care category. We awarded this facility a better than average grade of B in that area. Short-term care grades are generally used to score a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. In order to offer highly graded rehabilitation services, facilities generally must have better levels of highly skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that this nursing home provided information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. The final statistic we considered in this area is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that 6 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

This nursing home's nursing grade appears to be one of its better features. The facility received a grade of C in this category. When calculating our nursing scores, we assess both staffing levels and the skill levels of those nurses. This facility provides only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is a somewhat alarming figure which is well below average. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place fared better in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at. In fact, it scored well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be measures of the quality of nursing care. In many cases, the quality of nursing care is just as important as the number of hours of care offered.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The final category we analyzed was long-term care, which is this nursing home's weakest area. We awarded this nursing home a grade of D in this area. For residents seeking a permanent place to live rather than rehabilitation, long-term care is an important category. After considering the quantity of care provided by nurses, we then looked at the facility's vaccination statistics. We were pleased to discover that this facility vaccinates 98.55596 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Surprisingly, this facility also fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had just 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
