While this facility's overall grade was not bad, it really excelled in the category of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A+ for that category, which is one of our highest scores. Turning to the category of long-term care, this facility was awarded just a D in that area. In a long-term care environment, the nursing home's primary objective is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. On top of looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Thankfully, this nursing home administered the vaccine to 95.12195 percent of its residents, which is an above average percentage. Surprisingly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.

The final area we scored was short-term care, which proved to be this nursing home's worst category. We awarded this nursing home a D in that area. With our short-term care category, we attempt to craft a sound gauge for rehabilitation. In doing so, we analyze a facility's offerings of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. With a score of this caliber in this area, we weren't shocked to find that this place was well below average in many staffing metrics we looked at. It offered substantially fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most other facilities. The last datapoint we considered in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 5 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these subpar metrics doomed this facility's short-term care score.
