Facility Inspections
While we were not high on this nursing home's overall score, it actually received a very impressive inspection report this year. In fact, it received an excellent inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our best scores in that category with a grade of A-. Our inspection grades account for several factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. You generally want to avoid places with too many severe deficiencies flagged. While this nursing home had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A few minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
We awarded this nursing home just a D for our short-term care grade and that actually turned out to be its second most favorable score. In the area of short-term care, we seek to qualify indicators of a facility's rehabilitation services. We look at a facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. As you might expect, we found that this place offers far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the typical facility. Lastly, we considered the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. This was not a strength for this nursing home. We found that just 0 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, around half of their patients are able to return home so this is well below average.

Nurse Quality
This facility's next best category was nursing, but even there it received a grade of just D. This is still a well below average grade. Our nursing score looks at the facility's level of nurse staffing. We weigh both the levels of skill of those nurses as well as the amount of time spent with residents. This place averaged just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing grades. This facility fared well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these statistics to be measures of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
The final area we assessed was long-term care. This facility was given a poor grade of F in this category. In a long-term care environment, the facility's primary objective is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Fortunately, this nursing home vaccinated 96.12903 percent of its patients, which is a very solid total. To our surprise, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home has fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Sadly, a few of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
