Facility Inspections

Grade: A

This facility received a strong overall score as described above, but we especially would like to point out its excellent inspections in recent years. We awarded them an A in this category. Inspection scores are based on several pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that score well in this category have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we were able to find deficiency data for this facility. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This nursing home is also above average in the category of long-term care, where it received a score of B+. It performed better than most nursing homes in this area. Nursing homes that receive this type of grade in this category tend to provide consistent around the clock care to make sure residents are kept in good health. Once we looked at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents healthy. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

In addition, this facility also received favorable nursing grades this year. In fact, we awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with a grade of B. Our nursing grade assesses the facility's level of nurse staffing. We consider both the levels of licensure of those nurses as well as the amount of time spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Switching gears to the final category, this facility received a high-end short-term care rating. This facility did not turn out to have any weaknesses. In computing our short-term care grades, we scrutinize the nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This grade is more often than not a solid measure of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients who returned home from this nursing home. We found that 5.2 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
