Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

We want to point out that this nursing home outperformed its overall score in the category of inspections. In fact, it received an excellent inspection report this year. As a result, we gave it one of our best grades in this category with an A-. Arguably the most critical factor we look at in determining our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. Places with better scores in this category most likely dodged the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. Fortunately, although this place had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G through L. This means that the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe made us feel better about this inspection report.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

In addition, we gave this facility a grade of B in our short-term care category. This is one of our more favorable grades. Our short-term care scores are considered to be more important for folks needing a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally requires more skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means not just nursing services, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 5.6 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

This nursing home also received a strong nursing grade. In fact, we awarded it a grade of B in that category, which is one of our better scores. Nursing grades are based in large part on levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

This facility's worst category is long-term care, which is the final area we analyzed. In this area, we awarded this nursing home a grade of just D. In a long-term care environment, the facility's primary objective is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. In addition to assessing the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents, which is more than most nursing homes. Surprisingly, this nursing home was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Sadly, some of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
