Facility Inspections
While we gave this facility a terrible overall score, we gave it a B+ for our inspections category. This is due to the nursing home receiving a quality inspection report this year. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating our inspection grades. One key factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some end up being quite minor. This facility received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be major deficiencies. This tells you that the inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies to create an imminent risk to resident health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
Unfortunately, this facility's second most favorable score was long-term care. However, with a grade of D in this area, it still performed somewhat badly. Facilities that do not fare well in long-term care typically are not as well-staffed and are lagging in some of the areas of routine personal care we assessed. After looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 92.23301 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is a few points lower than we anticipated but still a respectable percentage. Surprisingly, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This was its best score in this category.

Short-term Care Quality
In addition, we gave this nursing home a rock-bottom F in the category of short-term care. Short-term care ratings are based in part on the facility's quantity of skilled nursing services. This means a vast spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. With its poor score in this category, we were not surprised to learn this facility offers significantly fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most nursing homes. The final statistic we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients who eventually returned home from the nursing home. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 4.4 percent of its residents returning home. This was quite a bit below the national average.
Nurse Quality
Moving on to our fourth category, this facility really didn't perform very well in this area either. With a bottom of the barrel grade of F in nursing, this is really as bad as it gets. When determining a nursing home's nursing rating, we consider the amount of time nurses are caring for patients as well as the level of licensure of the nurses. This nursing home offered just 0.2 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is well below average. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing grades. This place performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these metrics to be reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care.
