Registered Staff Hours
While we gave this facility a terrible overall score, we gave it a B+ for our inspections category. This is due to the nursing home receiving a quality inspection report this year. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating our inspection grades. One key factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some end up being quite minor. This facility received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be major deficiencies. This tells you that the inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies to create an imminent risk to resident health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
We also want to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home was given an F for its short-term care score. In determining our short-term care scores, we analyze a nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other types of therapists. This score is generally a meaningful assessment of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Finally, we considered the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that just 4.9 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Long-term Care Quality
The third area we analyzed is long-term care. This facility's received an unfortunate long-term care grade where it was given a lowly F. When nursing homes receive a score in this range in long-term care it generally means the nursing home did not perform well in our quality measures relating to resident care. Once we looked at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 92.07921 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which happens to be a few points below what we anticipated but still a decent figure. Surprisingly, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This is its best feature in this category.
The last category we graded is nursing. This facility was given an abysmal grade of F in this category. Nursing scores are based largely on quality and quantity of nursing care. This nursing home provided only 0.2 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is an alarmingly low total. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing scores. This nursing home fared well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
