Facility Inspections

Grade: B

Although we didn't give this nursing home a good overall score, we did give it a relatively strong grade in the area of inspections, where it received a B. Our inspection grades are tied to many items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important thing to look for on these inspections. Most importantly, you should avoid nursing homes that have severe deficiencies associated with risks to resident well being. Although this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' scale. A few minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

One of this facility's higher category grades was in the area of short-term care. This turned out to be its second most respectable category. In that category, we gave this facility a B-. With our short-term care rating, we strive to create a fair gauge for rehabilitation services. In this process, we analyze the facility's scope of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Unfortunately, this facility was below average in terms of its quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its patients based on the measures we assessed. The last item we assessed in this category is the number of residents that were able to return home from the facility. We found that just 4.8 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. Unfortunately, this was below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Unfortunately, this facility only received a grade of D for its nursing grade, which was actually one of its better category grades. The nursing rating analyzes quite a few factors, many of which are based on levels of nurse staffing. With only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis, this place's nurse staffing levels were quite a bit below the national average. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing ratings. This place fared well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The next category we rated is long-term care, in which this nursing home received a bottom of the barrel score here also. We gave it an F for this category, which is obviously somewhat alarming. Nursing homes that don't fare well in this category typically aren't as well-staffed and are lagging in a few of the areas of routine medical care we assessed. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. We were a bit concerned this facility vaccinated only 84.09091 percent of its patients. To our surprise, this place actually fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This was its best score in this category.
