Although we did not rate this nursing home highly overall, we want to draw your attention to its nearly flawless government inspections in recent years. We awarded them an A- in this category. Perhaps the most critical factor we consider in calculating our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's recent inspection reports. It is typically in your best interest to avoid nursing homes that have a long list of deficiencies. This facility received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This tells you that the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies to create an imminent threat to resident health or safety. A few minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.

This nursing home actually received a decent grade in the area of nursing as well. We awarded it a grade of B- for that category, which is not a bad score. Nursing grades are largely associated with the facility's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides only 0 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is a somewhat discouraging figure as it is well below average. Lastly, we also baked some quality measures into our nursing ratings. This facility was relatively weak in two of the major areas we focus on, with below average scores for minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. These areas are generally decent measures of the quality of nursing care provided.

Short-term Care Quality

This facility received its next highest category grade in the category of short-term care. We gave this facility a B- in this area, which is a reasonably acceptable score. Our short-term care grade is commonly used to grade a facility's performance with rehabilitation In order to offer good rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to have higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other licensed professionals. Unfortunately, we found that this facility provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. The tricky part is determining what effect this had on the quality of care. Finally, we assessed the number of residents who eventually returned home from this nursing home. We found that 38.3 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was well below average.

Long-term Care Quality

Historical

The next category we looked at is long-term care, in which this facility received a very poor score in this category also. It received an abysmal F for this category, which is definitely a major concern. When nursing homes receive a score in this range in this category it typically means the nursing home didn't perform well in our measures relating to patient care. One of the statistics we considered after nurse's aid hours is vaccinations. We were a bit alarmed this facility provided the pneumonia vaccination to just 85.17745 percent of its patients. To our surprise, this facility actually fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.54 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.
