Facility Inspections

Grade: A

Although we did not rate this facility favorably overall, we want to draw your attention to its excellent government inspections in recent years. We awarded them an A in this category. These inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Fortunately, although this facility had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A few minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

One of the other reasons we rated this nursing home so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing rating. In that category, we gave this nursing home an D. Our nursing score assesses a handful of factors, many of which are based on levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home fared well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these metrics to be reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

This nursing home ended up receiving a an abysmal score in our long-term care category. It received an F in this category. When nursing homes receive a score in this range in long-term care it generally means the nursing home did not perform well in our measures relating to resident care. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. As it turns out, this nursing home administered the vaccine to only 62.24299 percent of its patients, which is slightly concerning. Surprisingly, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home has fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. This is its best score in this category.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The last area we analyzed is short-term care. Sadly, it received an F in this category, which is a poor score. Our short-term care scores are believed to be more critical for those needing rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation typically mandates additional highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes not only nursing services, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Finally, we looked at the percentage of patients that were able to return home from this facility. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.2 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
