Registered Staff Hours
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home received a respectable grade in short-term care. We awarded it a B- for that category. In our short-term care score, we seek to craft a valuable gauge for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we assess the facility's level of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. We found that this place was below average in the two key staffing areas we looked at. In fact, it supplied fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. Finally, we considered the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.3 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.
Facility Inspections
We were also pleasantly surprised to award this nursing home a relatively favorable inspection grade as well. We awarded it a B- in this category, which was much better than its overall grade. Inspection grades account for several factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we look at is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. This facility was hit with 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This tells you that the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies to be an imminent risk to resident health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.

Nurse Quality
Turning to the area of nursing care, this facility received a grade of just D in this category. The nursing rating includes a number of factors. The most important factor is the quantity of hours nurses spend with residents. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing scores. This nursing home performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these metrics to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility's worst category was long-term care, which is the final category we assessed. In this area, we gave this nursing home a D. When facilities receive this type of score in this category it is often a bad sign for resident care and it may indicate that the nursing home is not as well-staffed with nurses and aids. Once we assessed the volume of nursing care, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination record. Frankly, we were a bit worried that this facility vaccinated only 85.11236 percent of its patients against pneumonia. To our surprise, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This was its best feature in this category.
