Facility Inspections
One of the reasons this place turned out to be a quality nursing home is that it received an A+ inspection grade. This is just about as good as it gets in this area. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing our inspection grades. One critical factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be quite minor. Although this place had some deficiencies on its report, none of them were serious based on CMS' scale. A few relatively minor deficiencies are not something to panic about.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home also was superb in the area of short-term care, where it received a grade of A-. Only a select group of nursing homes fared better in this category. Our short-term care ratings are important for prospective residents in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires additional highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a broad range of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we considered the number of residents that were able to return home from this facility. We found that 5 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality
This nursing home also received a strong nursing score. In fact, we awarded it an above average grade of B+ in this area. Our nursing grade is based on several subcategories, however, the most important consideration is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
The last category we looked at is long-term care. In this area, we gave this facility a strong grade of B. Nursing homes that do well in long-term care typically are well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to residents. On top of assessing the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients. Vaccines are critical to keeping patients out of the hospital. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
