Long-term Care Quality
In addition to being a first rate nursing home overall, this facility also performed well in long-term care, where it received an A+. Few nursing homes performed better in this category. If you are looking for anything other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each nursing home's long-term care scores. Once we looked at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 73.48066 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is a bit lower than we were hoping for but still a reasonably acceptable percentage. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we had hoped, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Nurse Quality
This nursing home also received an A+ nursing grade, making it one of the few nursing homes to receive multiple A+ category grades. Our nursing rating is primarily tied to the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well in the area of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. Facility Inspections
In addition, this nursing home also earned excellent inspections in recent years. We gave it one of our best scores in that area, with an A. Our inspection scores are based on several items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that excel in this category have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
Switching gears to the fourth area, this nursing home also performed well in the short-term care category. In fact, we awarded it a B+ in this area. This rounded out a first-rate report card. Our short-term care scores are arguably most critical for those requiring a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates more skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means not just nursing, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients that eventually returned home from this nursing home. We found that 4.4 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.
