Facility Inspections
While we were not high on this nursing home overall, we awarded it a B+ for our inspections rating. This grade is far better than the place's overall grade. Our inspection ratings are based on items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important item to look for on these inspections. You should especially avoid facilities with severe deficiencies associated with risks to resident well being. This facility received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This indicates that the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A few minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
We also awarded this facility a grade of C for our nursing rating. Nursing scores are largely based on a facility's nurse staffing. This facility provides only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is a somewhat concerning figure which is well below average. Lastly, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours per resident, this nursing home actually performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is typically a good indicator that a place has sufficient quality controls in place.

Long-term Care Quality
Moving on to the category of long-term care, this nursing home was given a grade of just D in this category. For patients seeking a permanent residence rather than rehabilitation, long-term care grades are very important. On top of assessing the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Thankfully, this nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents, which is an above average statistic. To our surprise, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than many nursing homes. Sadly, some of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
Short-term Care Quality
The last area we scored is short-term care, which turned out to be a low point for this nursing home. We gave this facility a grade of D in our short-term care category. Our short-term care grade is generally employed to measure a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. In order to offer highly rated rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to offer better levels of highly skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other licensed professionals. As you might expect, we learned that this place provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents that ultimately returned home from this nursing home. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.4 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.
