In addition to being a great facility overall, it also received A+ inspections recently. Its inspections were nearly flawless. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing our inspection grades. One key factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these can be quite minor. One of the other reasons we rated this nursing home so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing score. In fact, nursing proved to be its second best category grade. In that category, we gave this facility an A+. The nursing grade analyzes many factors, however, the most important consideration is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

This nursing home also was elite in the category of long-term care, where we gave it a score of A-. Few nursing homes received a better grade in this category. When nursing homes receive this type of score in long-term care it is usually a good sign for resident care and suggests that the facility is well-staffed with nurses and aids. In addition to assessing the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia sadly can be a life threatening illness for nursing home residents so we prefer when a facility does not roll the dice on this issue. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

The last category we looked at is short-term care, where this nursing home was given an A-. This rounded out a first-rate profile. Very few facilities received an A- or better in every category. In our short-term care assessment, we attempt to craft a fair barometer for rehabilitation services. In this process, we look at a nursing home's level of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last metric we considered in this category is the number of residents who ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.
