There are two nursing homes in Altus, Oklahoma, which at least gives you a few options to choose from. We gave the nursing homes here a strong city grade of B+. Even with only a few nursing homes, this is still a great sign. In fact, Altus is one of the five highest rated cities in the state of Oklahoma. This place's strong report card was highlighted by its nursing homes' inspection ratings, which we will address in the next section.
In addition to performing well in its overall grade, this city performed remarkably well in the category of inspections. In fact, some of its facilities received almost flawless inspection reports this year. Consequently, it received one of our highest grades in that area with a grade of A+. Arguably the most critical factor we consider in determining our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Places with better scores in this area most likely avoided the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. In addition, the city performed extremely well in the area of long-term care as well. Consequently, we awarded it a grade of A in that area. In the other categories we looked at, the city received slightly below average grades for our nursing and short-term care areas.
