There is only one nursing home in Carlsbad, New Mexico, providing for a relatively small population of 33,725 people. We were relieved to discover that its only nursing home received an excellent overall grade of B+. New Mexico did not have any cities with truly elite city grades. As a result, this city ended up with the distinction of being the top rated city in the state. This place's strong report card was highlighted by its inspection rating, which is addressed in the next paragraph.
In addition to receiving a strong overall grade, this city's sole nursing home performed remarkably well in our inspection category. In fact, we awarded it an A for that category, which is one of our highest scores. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating our inspection scores. One critical factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies end up being quite insignificant. This nursing home also received one of our higher scores in the area of long-term care, where it earned a grade of B+. Rounding out its report card, we gave the city favorable grades in our nursing and short-term care categories as well.
