We looked at the only nursing home in Pahrump, Nevada. This nursing home was awarded an overall grade of B-, which is a a solid score. For comparison's sake, we also looked at the facilities in the nearby city of North Las Vegas. With North Las Vegas receiving an awful city grade, we found the nursing home in Pahrump to be in a totally different league than most of the nursing homes in North Las Vegas. The best part of this nursing home's report card was its stellar short-term care grade. Short-term care grades are discussed in the next section.
While its overall score was not elite, this city's lone nursing home performed remarkably well in our short-term care category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A- for that category, which is one of our best scores. Short-term care grades are often used to score a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. In order to provide highly graded rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to have better levels of highly skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other types of therapists. This city also earned a B+ for our inspections category. Lastly, the city received grades of B- and D for our nursing and long-term care areas respectively. Even with an otherwise respectable performance, this city's poor long-term care grade could be concerning for many prospective residents.
