Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

Although this place's overall grade is not a highlight, it received a somewhat respectable grade in the category of inspections. We awarded it a grade of B- for this category, which is a decent score. Inspection ratings account for a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection report. One key criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its report, none were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We would not recommend this facility under any circumstance.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The next highest area we gave this facility in any area came in the area of short-term care, where we awarded it a grade of B-. Our short-term care scores are based in part on the nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This means a vast spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, in addition to other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this nursing home provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. The final item we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients who who were able to eventually return home from the facility. We found that just 6.4 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. Unfortunately, this was below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

This nursing home actually received a decent grade in the area of nursing as well. We awarded it a grade of C for that category, which is not a bad score. Our nursing score assesses quite a few components, most of which are tied to nursing hours. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day, which is a very low figure. Lastly, while this facility got dinged a bit for nursing hours, it actually excelled in some of our quality-based metrics. With fewer than five percent of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, it fared very well in this metric.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

This facility's least impressive area is long-term care, which is the final area we assessed. For this area, we gave this facility a grade of D. Nursing homes that don't fare well in this category often don't provide as much nursing care and also may be lagging in a few of the areas of routine medical care we looked at. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 86.92811 percent of its patients. This is quite a bit below what we were hoping for. To our surprise, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility has fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This was its best feature in this category.
