Facility Inspections
While this facility's overall grade was not bad, it really fared well in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A- for that category, which is one of our best scores. Our inspection ratings weigh several factors found on a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we look at is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with higher scores in this category generally have very few severe deficiencies. While this facility had a few deficiencies on its report, none were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. A few minor deficiencies are not necessarily something to panic about.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home received its second most favorable category score in the area of long-term care. We awarded this facility a B- in this category, which is a decent score. In the area of long-term care, we look at the quantity of services offered by a nursing home, as opposed to more sophisticated services. On top of providing quality levels of nursing care, this facility provided the pneumonia vaccine to 98.72881 percent of its patients. This percentage is higher than the majority of nursing homes. Unfortunately, this nursing home's hospitalization rate was less favorable. Here we found that this nursing home had 2.59 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days.
Short-term Care Quality
The next area we assessed is short-term care. In that area, we awarded this nursing home a grade of B-. In the area of short-term care, we endeavor to assess measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We assess a facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. Fortunately, this nursing home offers both physical therapists and registered nurses. Not all facilities offer both. The last statistic we looked at in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 44.9 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is actually below average.
Nurse Quality
The next category we graded is nursing. We gave this nursing home a C in that category. Our nursing grade consists of a handful of factors, however, the main consideration is the quantity of nurse hours spent with patients. This place provides an impressive 4 hours of nursing care per resident daily. Lastly, we also factored a few quality-based metrics into our nursing grades. This facility was relatively weak in some of the metrics we look at, with below average scores for minimizing its patients' major falls and pressure ulcers. These areas are typically good measures of the quality of nursing care available.
