One of the many reasons this turned out to be a great nursing home is that it received an A+ nursing grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this category. The nursing rating weighs several factors, but the most important consideration is the number of nurse hours spent with patients. This place provided 6.6 hours of nursing care per patient daily, which is among the better totals in the country. A significant portion of those hours were provided by registered nurses, which are one of the more skilled levels of nurses. We are very impressed by these figures. In addition to offering high levels of care, this place also excelled in the quality measures we assessed. It performed as well as any nursing home in the state in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.

In addition, this facility received elite marks in the area of long-term care. For this reason, it was given one of our highest scores in that category with a grade of A+. Nursing homes that do well in this category typically are well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to patients. After considering the very impressive nursing hours provided by this facility, we next considered the facility's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 97.916664 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is significantly higher than most nursing homes. This combination proved to be successful as this facility keeps its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Another impressive feature of this nursing home is its inspection score. In that area, we gave this nursing home an impressive grade of A. Our inspection scores account for a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection report. One key criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with higher scores in this category tend to have few of these severe deficiencies. Fortunately, although this facility had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

In the last category, we awarded this nursing home an A for its short-term care score. This finished off a very strong report card. In computing our short-term care scores, we look at a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other highly trained professionals. This score is more often than not a useful measure of a nursing home's rehabilitation. One reason for this facility's favorable score in this category is that it provides more care from registered nurses than the typical nursing home. Finally, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
