Although we were down on this facility overall, we awarded it a B in nursing. Our nursing grade includes numerous datapoints. The most heavily weighted variable is the quantity of hours nurses spent with patients. This facility provided 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can generally be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Additionally, we also wanted to point out that this facility was given strong short-term care marks this year. We awarded them one of our higher grades in this area, with a grade of B. This proved to be the nursing home's second best grade. Our short-term care grade is generally used to grade a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. To offer high-end rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to feature higher levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly trained professionals. Unfortunately, we weren't able to locate information about this nursing home's registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. The final metric we assessed in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home. We found that 37.2 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

Sadly, this facility's next best score was long-term care. However, with a grade of D in this category, it still fared somewhat poorly. In a long-term care setting, the primary goal is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. One of the datapoints we considered on top of nursing hours was vaccinations. Fortunately, this facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to 99.35691 percent of its patients. Unfortunately, this place's hospitalization rate was far less favorable. We found that this nursing home had 2.65 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a concerning rate.

Historical

Turning the last category of inspections, this facility fared very poorly. Sadly, it received an F in our inspection rating. This happens to be the most heavily weighted category in our overall grading system. You should pay special attention to any deficiencies on a nursing home's inspection reports when it receives this poor of an inspection rating. We recommend you pay close attention to the level of severity of the deficiencies. This particular nursing home had one category G through L deficiency, which rank among the more severe deficiencies. These categories indicate that the deficiencies uncovered by inspectors had the potential to create actual harm to residents. Lastly, we also want to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home received significant government fines recently of over $50,000. This typically indicates that CMS inspectors became fed up after several years of failed government inspections.
