In addition to being a respectable nursing home overall, this facility also excelled in the category of inspections, where it received a grade of A. Few facilities performed better in this category. Our inspection grades are based on items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that score well in this category typically have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This place received 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered severe. This indicates that the inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies should not lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.

We also awarded this nursing home a respectable score in the category of long-term care, with a grade of C. In the area of long-term care, we weigh the amount of services offered by a facility, as opposed to more medically-intensive services. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Frankly, we were a bit concerned this nursing home administered the vaccine to only 85.22523 percent of its residents. Nevertheless, this facility was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had just 1.52 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days.

Turning to another strength for this facility, it also earned an elite nursing grade. We gave this facility a score of D. Nursing ratings are based largely on nurse staffing levels. This facility averaged only 3.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is well below average. In addition to its subpar nursing hours, this place also received poor marks in many of the quality-based measures we looked at in computing our nursing ratings. We found that more of this facility's patients suffered falls leading to major injury. We would argue that many falls could likely be avoided with better nursing care. This statistic contributed to this place receiving a terrible nursing rating.

The final category we rated was short-term care, is this nursing home's least impressive area. We awarded this nursing home a D in this area. Short-term care ratings are based on a nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a wide range of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, in addition to other types of therapy. We found that this facility was below average in the two key staffing areas we assessed. It supplied fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. The final measure we assessed in this category is the number of residents who returned home from the nursing home. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 40.8 percent of its patients returning home.
