Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

On top of receiving a great overall grade, this facility really excelled in the area of nursing, where it received an A+. Few nursing homes fared better in this category. The nursing score features numerous factors. The most important factor is the number of hours nurses spent with residents. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

In addition, we also wanted to point out that this nursing home received impressive long-term care marks in this assessment. We awarded them one of our more favorable grades in this category, with a B. This turned out to be the nursing home's second highest score. When nursing homes receive a score in this range in this category it generally means it's well-staffed and is an overall good place to live on a permanent basis. On top of looking at the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 99.01961 percent of its patients, which is more than the vast majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

This nursing home's next most favorable area is short-term care. We gave it a C in this category. This is basically a middle of the road score in this category. Short-term care ratings are crucial for prospective residents looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally utilizes additional skilled nursing. This includes a broad spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. We found that this facility was below average in the two key staffing areas we looked at. In fact, it offered fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. It is important to determine whether this also correlates to a lower quality of care. The last statistic we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to return home from the facility. We found that just 3.8 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: F

In the last category of inspections, this nursing home did not fare well. Sadly, it received an F in our inspection category. This ended up really pulling this facility's overall grade down as we heavily weight this category. You should pay special attention to any deficiencies on a facility's inspection reports when it receives this bad of an inspection rating. We would pay close attention to the severity of those deficiencies. This facility had one category J through K deficiency, which rank among the worst categories of deficiencies. These categories mean that inspectors identified a deficiency which puts resident health or safety in immediate danger. Finally, this facility also received 2 substantiated complaints in recent years. This is yet another bad sign.
