Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

We also wanted to point out the fact that this nursing home has received near flawless health inspections recently. We gave them an A+ in this area. Arguably the most important factor we look at in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Facilities with higher scores in this category typically avoided the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. Fortunately, although this place had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

Adding to its impressive resume, this nursing home also excelled in our nursing category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A for that category. Our nursing rating includes a handful of datapoints, however, the most important one is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality measures and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as by employing a system of turning patients at least once a day.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This nursing home also was given a first-rate short-term care score. This actually turned out to be this nursing home's third most impressive category grade. In that category, we awarded this facility a grade of A-. Our short-term care ratings are presumably most important for people needing rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation usually utilizes higher levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes not merely nursing services, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 5.3 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

In the last category, we awarded this facility a grade of A+ for our long-term care grade. This wrapped up a very favorable report card. Nursing homes that receive this type of grade in this category tend to provide consistent around the clock care to make sure patients are well cared for. After we finished assessing the amount of nursing care, we then looked at the facility's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 99.64029 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia is too frequently a deadly health condition for nursing home patients so we strongly prefer when a nursing home does not roll the dice on this issue. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
