In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this nursing home received an A+ for nursing. The nursing rating features a number of subcategories. The most important variable is the number of hours nurses spend with residents. This place provides an incredible 8.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. Out of this total, many of the hours were provided by registered nurses, which is one of the more highly trained levels of nurses. In addition to providing impressive levels of care, this facility also excelled in the quality-based metrics we assessed. It performed as well as any facility in the state when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

Adding to its impressive category scores, this nursing home excelled in the area of inspections, where it earned an A. Not many nursing homes performed as well in this area. Arguably the most important factor we consider in computing our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Places with better scores in this category most likely avoided the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. While this facility had a few deficiencies on its report, none were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. We should note that deficiency-free inspections are rare in the industry.

Moving on our next area, this facility received an excellent short-term care score. In fact, we gave it a grade of A- in that area. In our short-term care assessment, we strive to forge a valuable gauge for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we analyze a facility's level of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Remarkably, this nursing home provides about 50% more hours of services from registered nurses and physical therapists than most facilities we assessed. This is certainly a great sign. The final measure we looked at in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

The last area we rated was long-term care. We awarded this facility one of our more favorable grades in that area, with a B. While this was not on par with several of its other grades, it is still an excellent grade. Facilities that excel in this category typically are well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to patients. On top of looking at the elite volume of care provided by aids and other staff at this facility, we also were happy with the nursing home's vaccination record. This facility provided the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is what we like to see. This combination proved to be successful as this place keeps its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
