Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

We want to draw your attention to the fact that this facility really outperformed its overall score in the area of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless government inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest scores in this area with an A+. Arguably the most critical factor we look at in computing our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes with better grades in this area most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This place was assessed 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This tells you that the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies to cause an imminent risk to resident safety or health. We should point out that deficiency-free inspection reports are rare in this industry.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This facility also was given an impressive score in our long-term care category. We gave this facility an above average grade of B in this area. Facilities that excel in long-term care tend to be well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to residents. On top of looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 98.22485 percent of its patients. Vaccines are critical to keeping patients out of the hospital. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

Next, we looked at the nursing category where we awarded this nursing home a grade of C, which is a decent grade. The nursing rating weighs many datapoints, most of which are associated with quantities of nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place excelled in some of the quality measures we assessed. It performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The final area we assessed is short-term care. We gave this nursing home a grade of D for short-term care, making this the nursing home's least impressive grade. In the area of short-term care, we try to assess measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We assess the facility's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. In this nursing home's case, we found that it provides less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients who ultimately returned home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.6 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
