Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of being a strong nursing home overall, it also received A+ health inspections in recent years. Its inspections are nearly perfect. Inspection ratings are tied to several datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that receive favorable grades in this category tend to have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This nursing home received 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This tells you that CMS didn't deem any of these deficiencies to cause an immediate risk to resident health or safety. We should note that deficiency-free inspection reports are rare in this industry.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

Another reason we rated this nursing home so highly is that it received an A+ nursing grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this category. Nursing scores are largely associated with a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Turning our next category, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our long-term care rating. This is a dominant rating. Facilities that receive this type of score in long-term care tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to ensure residents are well cared for. After considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is significantly higher than the average nursing home. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

The last area we looked at was short-term care, where this nursing home was awarded a grade of A-. This finished off an elite report card. Few nursing homes earned an A- or higher in in each area we assessed. Our short-term care grades are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This means a wide spectrum of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents that were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 4.6 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
