Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

In addition to a phenomenal overall grade, this facility also received A+ nursing grade. The nursing category consists of many subcategories, most of which are associated with quantities of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

This facility also received a virtually flawless inspection report. As a result, it received one of our highest scores in that area with an A+. This is one of the few places to receive multiple A+ category grades. Inspection grades are tied to datapoints located in the a nursing home's government inspections. Facilities that score well in this area typically have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

The next area we looked at is long-term care. Adding to its superb profile, this nursing home also performed well in this category. In fact, we awarded it a of A in the area. Facilities that excel in this category tend to be well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to residents. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia sadly can be a life or death illness for nursing home patients so we prefer when a nursing home doesn't take any chances. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Switching gears to our fourth area, this nursing home was awarded an excellent short-term care score. We gave it an A- in this area, giving this facility straight A's. In our short-term care score, we endeavor to create a valuable gauge for rehabilitation. In doing so, we analyze the facility's offerings of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final statistic we looked at in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We found that 4.5 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
