Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

While we gave this nursing home an abysmal overall score, we gave it a B- for our nursing rating. Nursing grades are heavily correlated with quantity of nursing care available. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place surprisingly fared better in some of the quality measures we assessed. In fact, it scored well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Turning to the area of long-term care, this nursing home received just a D in this category. Unfortunately, this ended up being one of its better grades. Long-term care ratings in this range generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids, as well as the levels of routine medical care available. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. We discovered that this nursing home administered the vaccine to only 52.03252 percent of its patients, which is several points lower than we expected. Surprisingly, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This is its best score in this category.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Sadly, this nursing home only received a D for its short-term care grade, which is not a score to write home about. Our short-term care scores are critical for prospective residents in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally mandates additional highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means a wide scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this place provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than a typical nursing home. The last datapoint we assessed in this area is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these poor statistics doomed this facility's short-term care grade.

Facility Inspections

Grade: F

In the final category of inspections, this facility had an abysmal showing. It received an F in our inspection category. You should pay special attention to any deficiencies on a nursing home's inspection reports when it receives this bad of an inspection grade. We would scrutinize the level of severity of those deficiencies. This facility had 8 deficiencies by government inspectors. The only positive thing we found is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that suggest they caused a risk to resident safety or health. Finally, CMS flagged this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. This is not what you want to see. We advise you to direct your search elsewhere.
