Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

To pair with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for its nursing grade. When facilities receive this kind of score in long-term care it is a good sign for patient care and suggests that the facility is well-staffed with nurses and aids. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 97.22222 percent of its patients, which is far higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

This nursing home also received an A+ for its nursing grade. There are numerous subcategories within this area. Many of the factors are tied to the quantity and quality of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as employing a system of moving a patient even once per day.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A

Another impressive feature of this facility is its inspection grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of A. Perhaps the most significant factor we consider in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Facilities with higher grades in this category typically dodged the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. While this facility had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

In our last category, this nursing home also received an excellent short-term care rating, with an A. This rounded out a first-rate report card. In the area of short-term care, we try to evaluate indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We analyze a nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 5.6 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
