Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

We also wanted to emphasize that this facility excelled in our nursing rating. We gave them an A+ in this category. The nursing score includes a host of factors. The most important factor is the quantity of hours nurses spend with residents. This nursing home averages 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Adding to this facility's list of strengths, it also was awarded a very favorable short-term care grade. We awarded them an impressive strong of A in this category. In our short-term care rating, we endeavor to create a sound gauge for rehabilitation services. In this process, we look at a facility's offerings of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last item we considered in this category is the percentage of patients that ultimately returned home from the facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

We also gave this facility a score of A- for our long-term care score. Nursing homes that do well in long-term care typically are well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to patients. In addition to assessing the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 98.36066 percent of its patients. Vaccines are critical to keeping residents healthy. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

In the last category we looked at, we found that this nursing home received a solid government inspection report this year as well. It earned a decent score in inspections with a score of B-. Our inspection ratings account for a host of factors found on a facility's inspection report. One key criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. While this facility had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple relatively minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
