Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of faring well overall, this nursing home earned a nearly flawless inspection report. Consequently, it earned one of our highest grades in that category with an A+. Inspection ratings account for several factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One key criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with higher scores in this area usually have few of these severe deficiencies. This nursing home was hit with 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This means that the inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies to create an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A few minor dings are not necessarily the end of the world.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Among its many impressive grades, this nursing home received a top-shelf long-term care score. In fact, it received a grade of A in this category. Facilities that receive this type of score in this category tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to make sure patients are kept in good health. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is far higher than most nursing homes. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

The next area we analyzed was short-term care. This facility was awarded an impressive short-term care grade, with a grade of B+ in this area. In calculating these short-term care scores, we look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our goal is to create a measure for comparing the rehabilitation services of various facilities. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

In the last category we scored, this nursing home received an impressive grade grade of B+ in our nursing category. With this score, the facility finished off a very favorable profile. Our nursing rating is based on the facility's nurse staffing levels. We weigh both the levels of skill of those nurses as well as the number of hours spent with residents. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed certain nursing quality measures in computing our nursing grades. These include minimizing residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We look at these areas as reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care provided, since better care tends to reduce these problems.
