Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

While this nursing home's overall grade was as bad as it gets, it actually didn't perform terribly in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a grade of B- for that category, which is one of our better scores. We would argue that one of the most critical factors in assessing an inspection report is deficiencies. In this regard, we especially look at the severity of those deficiencies. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its report, none were serious based on CMS' scale. Finally, CMS flagged this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. This is not what you want to see. We advise you to direct your search elsewhere.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

We were also surprised to find that this facility received a decent nursing grade this year. We gave it a grade of C in that category. Our nursing grade is mostly based on the facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics. Although this nursing home got dinged a bit for its nursing hours per resident, it actually excelled in some of these quality-based metrics. With less than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it did well in this statistic. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as having a policy of turning a resident more often.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Sadly, this facility only earned a grade of D for its long-term care grade, which is well below average in this category. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids. One of the datapoints we considered in addition to nurse's aid hours is vaccinations. Candidly, we were a bit concerned this facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to only 88.58696 percent of its patients. Surprisingly, this place actually fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The final area we scored was short-term care, in which this facility received a poor grade in this area as well. It received a lowly F for this area, which is definitely very concerning. Our short-term care scores are likely more meaningful for people needing rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation generally requires additional skilled nursing services. This includes not only nursing, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Based on its grade in this area, we weren't surprised to discover that this facility is well below average in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours offered to its patients based on the figures we assessed. Honestly, this was what we expected here. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients that were able to return home from this facility. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 2.8 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
