Facility Inspections
We want to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home outperformed its overall grade in the area of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless government inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest scores in this area with an A+. Our inspection ratings are based on many items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that excel in this area have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these places should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. While this facility had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
Turning to the area of long-term care, we gave this nursing home a grade of A- in that area. In a long-term care setting, the primary goal is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. One of the statistics we considered in addition to nurse's aid hours was vaccines. This nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccination to 84.48276 percent of its patients. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality
As it turns out, this nursing home only received a D for its short-term care score, which is not a very good score. Short-term care scores are based on the nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a wide range of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, not to mention other types of therapy. In this nursing home's case, we found that it provides less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. The last item we considered in this area is the percentage of patients that who were able to eventually return home from the facility. This facility struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 0 percent of its patients returning home.
Nurse Quality
The next area we looked at is nursing, which ended up being this facility's worst category. Unfortunately, we gave it an abysmal F for this area, which is certainly very disappointing. Our nursing score is mostly tied to the facility's nurse staffing. This facility averaged a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This statistic is well below average. To pair with its subpar totals in the area of nursing hours per resident, this nursing home also didn't fare as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in determining our nursing grades. We looked at the percent of residents sustaining pressure ulcers and major falls. This place had more pressure ulcers and falls than the average nursing home.
