Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility has received near flawless government inspections recently. We awarded them an A+ in this area. Inspection grades are tied to pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that score well in this area have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. While this place had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' scale. Remember that deficiency-free inspections are uncommon in the industry.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This nursing home was awarded a strong short-term care grade as well. We gave it one of our better grades in that area with a grade of B+. Our short-term care grade is generally employed to measure a facility's performance with rehabilitation. To provide quality rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to provide better levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly trained professionals. We weren't able to find information about this nursing home's registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents who eventually returned home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This facility was given a strong long-term care grade as well. We gave it one of our better grades in that area with a score of B. When facilities receive this kind of grade in long-term care it is usually a good sign for resident care and indicates that the place is well-staffed with nurses and aids. On top of considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. Vaccines are critical to keeping patients healthy. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

The last category we scored was nursing. This nursing home was given an impressive nursing rating this year, with a grade of B-. Although this isn't as strong as many of its other category grades, this is nevertheless a respectable rating in this area. The nursing rating analyzes a handful of subcategories, most of which are tied to nursing hours. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Finally, we look at quality-based metrics, such as the percentage of residents who sustained pressure ulcers and major falls. These metrics are decent measures of the quality of nursing care.
