Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of receiving a strong overall score, this nursing home also earned top notch health inspections in recent years. We awarded them one of our better grades in this category, with an A+. Inspection ratings are tied to several datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that excel in this category typically have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. While this facility had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This facility performed well in the category of long-term care. Indeed, we gave it a score of A- for that area, which happens to be one of our most impressive grades. Nursing homes that receive this type of score in this category tend to provide consistent around the clock care to ensure residents are well cared for. One of the factors we considered on top of nursing hours is vaccines. This facility provided the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. Vaccination is a reliable method to minimize unnecessary deaths for the senior population. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The next category we graded is short-term care, where this nursing home received a C in this category. In our short-term care rating, we try to forge a sound gauge for rehabilitation. In doing so, we look at the nursing home's scope of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. It doesn't look like this nursing home provided registered nurse or physical therapist staffing data. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents who ultimately were able to return home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit below the national average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

This facility's worst area is nursing, which is the last category we looked at. In this category, we awarded this facility a D. When calculating our nursing grades, we factor in both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the levels of licensure of the nurses. This place offered just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. While this place didn't excel in nursing hours, it surprised us in a few of the quality-based assessments in the nursing category, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed above average in this datapoint, which is one redeeming quality we found in this category.
