Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of being an elite facility overall, this nursing home excelled in the area of inspections, where it received an A+. Very few facilities performed as well in this area. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing our inspection ratings. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are relatively minor. While this place had some minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G through L. This means the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This facility was awarded high scores in the area of long-term care as well. In fact, we gave it one of our best scores in that category with a area of A-. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. On top of considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 94.532196 percent of its residents. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents out of the hospital. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

Another one of this facility's impressive category grades came in the area of nursing care. We awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with a grade of B. There are quite a few subcategories included in this area. Many of these subcategories are tied to the quantity of nurse staffing. This facility provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The next category we looked at is short-term care. In this area, we gave this nursing home a solid grade of B-. This is this facility's least impressive area. Short-term care grades are meaningful for prospective residents looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates more skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means a vast spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 4.8 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.
