Nurse Quality

Grade: A

One of the reasons this turned out to be a great nursing home is that it received a very impressive nursing grade. In fact, nursing turned out to be its best category. In that category, we gave this nursing home an A. We assessed the skill-level of nurses at the nursing home, in addition to the number of hours those nurses worked with residents, in computing our rating in this area. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can generally be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

Adding to its impressive category grades, we gave this facility an A- for our inspections rating. Inspection grades are tied to pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent government inspections. Places that excel in this category tend to have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these places should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This place was assessed 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This indicates that the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies to cause an immediate risk to patient health or safety. We should note that deficiency-free inspections are rare in the industry.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This nursing home's third most favorable area ended up being its long-term care score, where it was given a B-. In determining our long-term care ratings, we analyze the assistance with daily living offered to the nursing home's residents. After assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination records. We were pleased to learn that this nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Lastly, this place was also able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The last category we looked at was short-term care, in which this facility was awarded a B-. This was this nursing home's worst area. This is nevertheless not the end of the world. Short-term care grades are based on the facility's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a vast scope of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, in addition to other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last statistic we considered in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that just 3.9 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is below average.
