Nurse Quality

Grade: A

In addition to performing well in its overall score, this nursing home received even higher grades in the area of nursing. In fact, we gave it one of our highest grades in that category with an A. We weighed the skill-level of nurses at the facility, as well as the quantity of hours those nurses worked with residents, in determining our grade in this category. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can generally be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B

Another strong feature for this nursing home was inspections, where it earned a B in that category. It outperformed most facilities in this area. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing these inspection grades. One key factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies end up being relatively minor. Fortunately, although this place had a few minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you that the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Remember that deficiency-free inspection reports are uncommon in the industry.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Turning to another strength for this nursing home, we gave them one of our better scores in our short-term care category as well, with a grade of B. Short-term care scores are based in part on the nursing home's quantity of skilled nursing services. This includes a vast range of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 3.9 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

Moving on to the fourth category, this facility received a respectable long-term care grade of B-. Our long-term care grade assesses a facility's personal care instead of the skilled nursing or medical services that are critical to a skilled nursing facility. On top of looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 99.242424 percent of its residents. This nursing home keeps its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
