Facility Inspections
While we were not high on this nursing home's overall grade, it received a very impressive inspection report this year. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that category with an A. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating these inspection scores. One critical factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are quite insignificant. This place was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This means that the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies to create an imminent risk to resident safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
This facilities next best area was long-term care. We gave it a grade of C in this category. This is essentially a slightly below average grade in this area. Long-term care grades focus on a nursing home's personal care instead of the skilled nursing or medical services that are critical to a skilled nursing facility. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to a relatively low 75.81699 percent of its patients, which is somewhat alarming. Nevertheless, this place excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality
This facility ended up receiving rock bottom score in our nursing category. It received an F in this category. The nursing score considers many subcategories. The most important variable is the amount of time nurses spend with patients. This particular facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This statistic is well below the national average. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility fared well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
Short-term Care Quality
The final category we assessed was short-term care, where this facility was given a rock bottom grade in this category also. Unfortunately, we gave it an F in this area, which is obviously a major concern. Our short-term care scores are important for patients seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically utilizes higher levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means a vast spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. With its score in this area, we weren't surprised to find that this place is well below average in terms of the number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the measures we assessed. Honestly, this was about what we expected to find. The final item we considered in this category is the percentage of patients that returned home from the nursing home. This facility struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 4.1 percent of its residents returning home. This was quite a bit below the national average.
