Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

We want to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home really outperformed its overall score in the area of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in this area with an A-. Our inspection ratings are tied to datapoints located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that receive favorable grades in this area typically have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these places should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Another one of this facility's higher category scores came in the category of long-term care. In that category, we awarded this nursing home a grade of B. It actually fared better than most nursing homes in this area. When nursing homes receive this type of grade in this category it is a good sign for patient care and indicates that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses aids. One of the criteria we considered after nursing hours is vaccines. This facility provided the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its residents. This is a reliable method to minimize unnecessary deaths for the nursing home population. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

Next, we looked at the nursing category where we awarded this nursing home a grade of C, which is a decent grade. We scrutinized the qualifications of nurses working for the nursing home, in addition to the number of hours the nurses worked with patients, in determining our grade in this category. This particular facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This figure is significantly below the national average. Lastly, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours per resident, this place performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has quality controls in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

Turning to the next category, this facility received an acceptable short-term care score of C. With our short-term care category, we attempt to craft a valuable gauge for rehabilitation. In doing so, we look at the facility's offerings of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final statistic we assessed in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 4.7 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is below average.
