Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

One of the many reasons this place ended up being a great nursing home is that it earned an A+ inspection grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical area. Inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Unfortunately, we were not able to track down deficiency counts for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing grade. This turned out to be its second best category grade. In that category, we gave this nursing home an A. Nursing scores are primarily based on a facility's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Contributing to its fine profile, this nursing home also was given an excellent long-term care score, with a score of A. When nursing homes receive this type of grade in long-term care it is a good sign for resident care and indicates that the place is well-staffed with nurses and aids. Once we looked at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 99.15612 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is much higher than the average nursing home. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

In our last area, this nursing home also was awarded an excellent short-term care rating, with a grade of A. This wrapped up a very favorable report card. Short-term care grades are generally used to score a facility's performance with rehabilitation. To offer quality rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to offer higher levels of highly skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other types of therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, according to the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last metric we assessed in this area is the percentage of residents that eventually returned home from the facility. We found that 5.8 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
