Facility Inspections

Grade: A+

In addition to being a great overall grade, this facility also received A+ health inspections in recent years. Its inspections were virtually flawless. Inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This facility also performed well in the category of short-term care, where we gave it a grade of A. Only a select group of nursing homes performed better in this category. Our short-term care grades are based on the facility's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a vast range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Unfortunately, it does not appear that this facility submitted information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. The final metric we looked at in this category is the percentage of patients who who were able to eventually return home from the nursing home. We found that 7.4 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Turning our next area, we awarded this facility a score of A- for its long-term care grade. This is a very strong score. For residents seeking a permanent place to live rather than skilled nursing, long-term care is a very important category. Once we looked at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination statistics. We weren't able to find information on vaccination rates. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

In the final category we rated, this nursing home was given a very strong grade of B+ in our nursing category. With this grade, the nursing home topped off a very strong profile. We weighed the qualifications of nurses employed by the facility, in addition to the quantity of time the nurses spent with residents, in computing our score in this area. This nursing home averages 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at certain nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. These include minimizing residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We look at these statistics as reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care provided, since better care tends to reduce these problems.
