Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

While we were not high on this facility overall, we gave it a B- for our inspections rating. This score is more respectable than the place's overall grade. These inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We would not recommend this facility under any circumstance.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facility's next best category turned out to be short-term care. In that area, we gave this nursing home a grade of B-. Our short-term care grades are based in part on a facility's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a vast range of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. We were surprised to find that this place was below average in the two key staffing areas we assessed. The facility supplied fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other nursing homes. Finally, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.3 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This nursing home's next best category is long-term care. We gave it a B- in this area. This is basically a middle of the road grade in this category. For residents in need of a permanent place to live as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is an important category. After assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination statistics. We were optimistic to discover that this facility vaccinated 99.406525 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Finally, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

This nursing home's worst area is nursing, which is the final area we scored. For this area, we gave this nursing home a D. Our nursing score considers a variety of subcategories. The most heavily weighted factor is the number of hours nurses spend with patients. This nursing home offered just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This figure is well below average. Unfortunately, this place also had abysmal scores in some of the quality-based measures to pair with its low nursing hours. We looked at the percentage of patients suffering pressure ulcers and we were very disappointed. This place was at roughly 150 percent of the national average in this statistic. This is likely a bad sign when you consider that many bed sores could be avoided with better nursing care. This statistic helped pull down this facility's nursing grade quite a bit.
