Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A- for our short-term care grade. In our short-term care assessment, we attempt to craft a sound gauge for rehabilitation. In doing so, we analyze the nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Unfortunately, we weren't able to find registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this facility. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.9 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

In addition, this facility earned top notch health inspections in recent years. We awarded them one of our better grades in that area, with a grade of A-. Arguably the most critical factor we consider in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher scores in this category typically avoided the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This nursing home was hit with 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This tells you that CMS did not deem any of these deficiencies to be an immediate threat to patient health or safety. We should note that deficiency-free inspections are uncommon in this industry.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

This nursing home also received a strong nursing score. In fact, we awarded it an above average grade of B+ in this area. The nursing rating includes many subcategories, but the main consideration is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The next area we graded is long-term care. In this area, we gave this facility a very solid grade of B. When facilities receive this kind of score in long-term care it is typically a good sign for patient care and suggests that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses and aids. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 97.9798 percent of its residents. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents out of the hospital. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
